Chordle
(Chuck + Wordle)
Chordle is an interactive musical sequencer inspired by the word game Wordle and written in the ChucK programming language. The player can create new 3D Wordle games of arbitrary row and column length, where the winning word corresponds to an audio sample (such as a snare, hihat, synth stab, sound effect, etc.). As the player tries to guess the word, a green square (an exact letter match) will always play the sample on that beat, whereas a yellow square (correct letter in the wrong spot) will play the sample based on some probability. The player can rotate the game cube, where each face corresponds to a different beat division of the tempo (half note, quarter note, eighth note, sixteenth note). Different word lengths and number of guesses allow for complex sequences and polyrhythms. When the player correctly guesses the word, a melody emerges that is based on the player’s previous guesses and letter choice.
